With more than 36 years of experience in education, Cory Swenson has devoted his career to teaching and coaching over 10,000 students and athletes. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Education from Utah State University. For 34 years, Cory taught high school social studies, focusing primarily on supporting students with special needs and reluctant learners. Throughout his career, he emphasized the social, emotional, and mental well-being of his students—helping them develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Beyond the classroom, Cory coached football, basketball, volleyball, and track & field, earning recognition as the Utah State Track & Field Coach of the Year (1996) and United States Western Division Coach of the Year (2003). After retiring from public education, Cory joined the Cascade team in January 2024. He is excited to be part of a small-class learning environment where he can continue to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic growth and life skills. Cory and his wife live on what they affectionately call the Swenson Mini Ranch, home to a lively mix of horses, dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and rabbits. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors—especially fly fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding with his wife.
